I've been wanting to post this for the longest time, but I just haven't had the chance. I'm sorry if I seemed ungrateful by not posting, Mum's been in hospital, and I've been working full time, and as her carer, so I've been swamped. Things are on the mend now, so I've had chance to upload the photo.

tempested_bird , thank you so much for the wonderful goodies.

She sent me a beautiful purple scarf, which didn't photograph properly, it's a much more beautiful colour in person, 2 skelly candles, which are fabulous, a kitchen towel she had been hand embroidered with a sugar skull, a hand painted card, and a CD of  "A Very Scary Solstice"  which is a mix of Christmas carols with Cthulhu Mythos. It's taking pride of place with my Billy Idol Christmas CD, and my Twisted Sister, Twisted Christmas CD, hehe, I don't do traditional Christmas music, so I *love* this! :)

Thank you so much tempested_bird

My Secret Santa Gift

I'm really sorry for not posting this sooner. My life has done a complete circle and I'm still kinda reeling.

Anyway, my delicious gift knocked me over completely. When I get access to a camera, I will take some photos ....

But ...

My Santa didn't leave her LJ name, and I am not comfortable stating her real name on this public post. But ... inside my gift was a fabulous black crushed velvet throw blanket, and a GORGEOUS necklace/earring set. They showed up the day after family photos, or I would have worn them in the photos.

So thank you so much! I really appreciate the gift.

I thought I posted this last week...

but I actually posted it to my own LJ and not the community.

I can't even remember when I got my spookysanta gift but it was the first gift I got of the season. I had opened the box in the parking lot before work and had every intention of taking pictures, haven't had a minute to breathe.

The first thing I found was the most yummy body wash that I could only describe as "liquid Halloween," because it had the most awesome spice smell. Next I found a tray of rock candy which was quickly devoured by my coworkers when I put it out on my desk. While I was hunting around in the box full of peanuts I heard a very family dog toy squeak. I squeaked myself when I opened a bag of goodies for Panchita - a pirate hat, squeaky coffin, and a pirate bandanna - it made me giggle because the bandanna would be a great blanket for the baby. I really wanted to take some pictures of Panchita curled up with the bandanna over her but I haven't been able to catch her long enough to get a good photo.

I thought that that was everything so I went to fold the box back up but it was still heavy so I looked again. All wrapped up in bubble wrap (which is like my most favorite thing evar) was a Panzy the Pirate! One of queeniex's creations. OMFG I've wanted one of those for like forever!

As soon as I got to my desk I took Panzy out and set her up at my desk...Collapse )

This is the only picture of my spookysanta gift because I still haven't had time to really take any. Everyone at work picks her up and plays with her - a few people I've directed to Queenie's website - and it was an awesome SS gift.

Sorry nw_photochick and girlghoul for taking so long post - with life and this crazy time of year I haven't been able to sit down, upload, and post (only reason I was able to get to it tonight is because I came home sick from work).

A Solution

Hi guys,

This is Justin, Jenn's hubby for those who aren't aware.

As you all know, we've had a bit of an impasse here. Things got a little too stressful for Jenn this year, so she decided not to do the swap next year. At the same time, virtually all of you very clearly said you want it to happen again and you'll miss it terribly if it doesn't.

Jenn and I knocked heads, and we've come up with a solution to the problem!

Next year, the Spooky Santa swap WILL happen, as scheduled. The solution is, I'll be running it. What does that mean? It means Jenn gets to have her cake and eat it too. The swap happens, she can even take part as she sees fit, but she won't have to deal with any of the organizational headaches. I'm actually a trained professional in organizational headaches (I'm a middle manager for a corporate subsidy, I know all about headaches) so I'll handle that end for her.

What will change? Absolutely nothing on your end. The only difference is who the e-mails go to when/if there's a problem, and who writes you nagging e-mails/comments when you forget to post your photos or send your package. I'm not some big hairy ogre...okay, wait, scratch that, I AM a big hairy ogre, but I'm a polite one and I'm not going to be some Nazi-esque enforcer. I'll just be a buffer between Jenn and any stressful stuff, that's all. I handle that kind of thing better than she does, and I generally have WAY less responsibilities around the holidays. I make the money, I'm the self-propelled wallet for shopping trips, and I occasionally walk the dog or serve as tester for her baking experiments. Everything else is all her: the baking, the decorating, the card writing, the wrapping, the gift shopping, the works. (And that's how she wants it, it's not just the fact that I'm dreadfully lazy...even though I am.) If I can step in here and make this thing happen, my beloved is happy, you guys are happy, and everyone has a merrier Christmas, hell, I'm in.

So stay tuned in 10 months or so, we'll be ramping this puppy up again. In the meantime, happy new year!

Spooky Santa Haul

My apologies that it has taken me so darn long to actually post this; I have been insanely swamped.

Nonetheless, A few days before Christmas, I received my parcel from the lovely agentaeonfiux, I got a fairly large box full of fun little holiday goodies, one of which made me laugh myself silly for half the day.

The full haul included:
Gingerbread Hot Chocolate Mix (which I assure you went to good use, very quickly...)
A small box of chocolates
The Super Dooper Reindeer Pooper (a jellybean dispenser that caused many days of entertainment, it "poops" jellybeans which made the 12 year old in me giggle like mad)
A pumpkin spice scented candle
A CD of Christmas songs done in lower register piano (beautiful CD. I never thought I'd ever like "Jingle Bells" until I heard this CD)
A Christmas Tree Grow Kit
A sparkly brush
Wine Stem Decorators
A Suncatcher kit
A handmade necklace (which was awesome)

More photos of my box o' treasureCollapse )

Again, agentaeonfiux, thank you so much! I thoroughly enjoyed your box of goodies, and it came on a very stressful day, so it was a welcome reprieve from all the nuttiness.

To the recipient of my parcel: again, a thousand, million apologies that it's so late. I had a lot of issues with the post office, so please don't think it was because I forgot about you! I hope you do enjoy your parcel when you receive it.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

what a surprise!!!

I posted this in my own lj a few days, but was waiting to take photos before posting it here too.

A few months ago girlghoul decided to create this secret santa holiday swap group. I was really excited about it, but due to our sad state of finances decided not to participate, which was disappointing. :-(

Well we get home a few nights ago and there's a slip for a box...

It's a box from Texas, with girlghoul's return address! What a surprise, she decided to send me a surprise secret santa box!! There were so many fantastic goodies beautifully wrapped inside! She sent me *three* of her beautiful handmade charm bracelets, some yummy lip balms, purple and black stripey tights, great skeleton gloves (which the boy already stole), vanilla incense, good sniffies pomegranate hand wipes! I hope I'm remembering everything. I am so touched by such a generous gesture, it was incredibly sweet and thoughtful of you. I've been pretty blue about this holiday season and it sure was an amazing and wonderful surprise. the best present of all is having such a thoughtful friend like you... thank you so much!

I just realized that the stripey tights and vanilla incense didn't make it in the pic since they're already in the bedroom!
